By choosing to eat sour candy, this dentist in Santa Clarita suggests that teeth are placed in jeopardy. This is because the somewhat irresistible confection contains high acid levels that can be extremely harmful to overall dental health. Since sour candy has low-PH levels just like acids, it essentially eats your eaters! Tooth enamel which happens to be the hardest part of one`s tooth does not stand a chance against consistent abuse from this acidic compound. Tooth decay will come as a result of destroyed enamel; not to mention tooth sensitivity when brushing or even drinking a nice cold glass of water on a hot day.

Though the warning signs are there, many people still eat it the crafty concoctions. The general public favorite seems to be Sour Patch Kids. Sour binges can happen to anyone, just remember to take precaution and not over do the desire to eat too many sour candies. Brushing your teeth after you eat this type of candy is also harmful as there is insufficient time for the enamel to re-harden. There are no cutting corners with this type of candy.

A person who is afraid of causing irreversible damage to their teeth ought to stay away from sour candy. If one follows good advice given by this dentist, they will save themselves the headache of having to deal with damaged teeth. When the next binge comes up, try simply taking one of your favorite fruits, eating it and then wait 20 minutes for your body to respond. The sensation of needing more will dissipate and your craving will be satisfied!

We as the cosmetic dentist of choice offer many specialized procedures to help you look your best. You may be surprised to find that your insurance provider will cover some cosmetic procedures because these procedures are also beneficial to your dental health. Even if your insurance company doesn’t cover these procedures, there are many good reasons to have them performed.

There are hidden benefits to investing in cosmetic dentistry. For example, some people find themselves more eligible for better jobs and/or promotions at work when they display a dazzling white, straight and perfect smile. If your teeth are chipped, cracked or stained, you may be shy about smiling. A cosmetic dentist can fix those problems and give your self-esteem a big boost!

While a general dentist, focuses on health related dental care such as cleanings, fillings, crowns and so forth, a cosmetic dentist focuses on helping you perfect your smile. The fact of the matter is, a cosmetic dentist can also help you with dental health. If you have missing or chipped teeth, gaps between your teeth, etc., you may have problems chewing properly, and this could lead to poor digestion. If you have cracks and chips in your teeth, bits of food will become trapped there. This could lead to cavities and a decline in general dental health.

Luckily, these days cosmetic dentistry is far more affordable than in the past. Because so many people are opting for cosmetic dentistry, the cost of many procedures has declined. Additionally, you can often arrange a payment plan with the dentist, and discounts, specials and coupons are frequently available. This makes it easy for people to take advantage of common procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers and so on.

If you have thought that getting your teeth fixed is just a pipe dream, think again! Let us be your cosmetic dentist of choice. We promise that the first consultation will be extremely informative, pain free and most importantly self-satisfying.

Dentistry is considered as one of the medical professions with a lot of inventions. The use of dentures and veneers explains this concept of finding artificial replacement for natural teeth. When an individual is facing the problem of discolored teeth, he or she can consider the option of using restorative devices. One such procedure is the use of veneers. This is a thin material that is designed specifically for covering the outer surface of ones’ tooth. Most dentists recommend it for restoring beauty in smiles or for medical purposes. Dental veneers can be custom made according to the user when intended for aesthetic value; one can have different colors, shapes and sizes. There are two kinds of veneer fabrications to change the appearance of teeth. The difference is based on the material used in making the veneer as either porcelain or composite. Most of the application of this concept uses the composite material that is fixed on to the tooth or teeth using a special type of dentist’s resin. They can either be permanent or non-permanent.

Several benefits can be attached to the use of dentist veneers to completely change the appearance of dental arrangement and configuration. Its use can be applied on cases where a tooth is broken, misaligned, chipped off, discolored or worn down. A lot of precision is needed when looking for a veneer for use in dentistry. The dentist who is to oversee the process has to examine the teeth very thoroughly before applying any change to its natural form. Before fixation of the veneer, the original area has to be trimmed off to remove part of the enamel for the veneer to “fit” in. After appropriate application, the material is then bonded using an adhesive. A cosmetic dentist finds this as an important tool for changing the appearance of client’s dental characteristic.

Medical contraindications can however be registered with an overuse of instant orthodontics by minors. The fact that they are used as temporary remedies also calls for their reuse and which may be costly for users. This concept is generally an appropriate alternative path to take in improving the appearance of one’s dental outlook for self confidence when done correctly.

First, one must understand the composition of teeth. Teeth are composed of three main layers; enamel, dentine and an inner layer which supplies nutrition and blood to the teeth. Enamel is the outermost layer and is white in color whereas dentine is the middle layer and is dark in color. Your dentist may have also informed you that teeth are primarily made up of calcium and phosphate. Teeth are a highly mineralized part of the body, only second to internal bones. Dentists know that each tooth requires a good amount of nutrition for healthy growth. In cases of malnutrition, tooth decay occurs which can lead to different consequences. For better chewing, teeth must be strong and healthy. To help you be a more educated eater, and improve your dental experience for your dentist visit in Santa Clarita, check out some of these foods and their benefits to your tooth health.

1) Milk and milk products:

Milk and all products containing milk are rich source of calcium and phosphate which are the building blocks of teeth.

2) Green leafy vegetables:

All green leafy vegetables contain high concentration of vitamin K and calcium. Out of all green vegetables, spinach is the richest source of antioxidants, vitamin A and vitamin K. It also contains smaller concentrations of phosphorus and calcium which make teeth stronger.

3) Citrus fruit: (Not too much though! Watch that acid content!)

Citrus fruit are very vital for attaining positive vitamins. The primary vitamin obtained is vitamin C, which is an anti-oxidant. Vitamin C plays very significant role in healing the gums as well as the cell growth and regeneration, which is vital in teeth formation and maintenance.

4) Fish: (Bones in!)

Fish with bones that can be eaten are very good source of calcium and phosphate. A sardine is a tasty example of edible bone fish.

5) Oysters:

Oysters, when taken in raw form, provide calcium to the teeth.

6) Soy milk:

Soy milk also contains calcium. It is good for people who are allergic to cow’s milk or lactose.

7) Protein rich foods:

Meat, poultry, fish and egg are an excellent source of phosphorus. Phosphorus is an essential component of teeth and plays a vital role in their degree of toughness.

8) Tofu

It is a rich source of protein and may also contain calcium depending upon the manufacturer. By eating some of these foods, everyone can make his or her teeth healthy and strong. So make your next dentist visit a good one!

Don’t wait until your “bad” teeth demonstrate their ability to make your day into disaster. Dental examination is mandatory to be done at least once every six months to do the Tartar cleaning (my dentist usually called it scaling procedure). Why? Unconsciously, we have been consuming a lot of foods that potentially damage our teeth.

There are many teeth destructive food temptations that we are exposed to everyday. Through the use of mediums such as in TV commercials, radio commercials, billboards, even walking down the strip of our favorite mall and watching others crunch down on our favorite foods. The temptation can be a bit tough to resist at times. The most popular sweet is candy. Candy containing sugar or sucrose which produces acids; depending on the sugar content and level of acidity to the candy it can severely damage tooth enamel.

Granulated sugar or sucrose is one of the main causes of dental cavities. Dentists along with dental studies have also revealed that the presence of high sucrose-containing foods can lead to diabetes. The common dentist answer is to brush your teeth regularly. Simple isn’t it? Some other things to look out for are foods that are high in carbohydrates. Be sure to check the wrapper to get the daily percentage of sugar value and other nutritional information. If you are a fan of Lemon then you should know lemon acidity can lead to teeth erosion. Store bought juices need to be taken into consideration for your dental health. Try to limit the consumption due to brands typically adding additional sugar to the juice. Lastly, syrup drugs such as cough lozenges, cough syrup are known to contain lots of sugar that can affect dental health. As always, if there are any questions or concerns be sure to visit your dentist for more advice!

You may already know that sugar and soda can cause cavities, but did you know that acidic foods and drinks can equally harm your teeth? Regular and diet sodas, juices, energy drinks, teas, and wine all have high acidity that damages your tooth enamel. Several foods, including pickles, sauerkraut, citrus fruits, tomatoes and even jams, also have high acidity levels. The acids in these foods and drinks can cause problems such as tooth sensitivity, darkening of teeth, and a greater likelihood of tooth decay. Needless to say this is going to make the next dental visit an absolute necessity.

Dentists find that tooth sensitivity is actually a very common problem. If you have teeth pain or discomfort when eating sweet, cold, or even hot foods, your enamel may have been affected already. In more severe cases, dentists have reported that individuals can also experience pain and sensitivity when breathing in cold air. Although there are many causes of sensitivity, including gum disease, plaque buildup, and routine dental procedures, the erosion of enamel caused by consuming acidic foods is a major cause. Although the outer enamel of ones teeth appears to be white, if it is harmed, it may reveal the layer beneath it, which is dark. Once this enamel is destroyed, a simple filling will not fix it. Instead, you may need to look towards veneers or possibly tooth crowns.

If you do not visit your dentist regularly, the problems and pain level will only increase. Although limiting consumption of drinks and foods with high acidity is your best defense to protecting your tooth enamel, there are other preventive measures that you can take. When you drink beverages with high-acidic content, use a straw in order to minimize contact of acid with your teeth. When you eat foods that can damage your tooth enamel, eat them as part of a meal; our body’s natural saliva production can help neutralize and dilute the acids. When you are done with your food or beverage, a neat trick to do in order to stimulate saliva production is to chew sugar free gum.

Nobody is born with a fear of going to the dentist. It would be difficult to argue that point since we are born completely toothless. Fear is a learned response. It takes a particular personal, negative experience for fear to take hold. A personal experience could include hearing a horror story about another person’s experience. The seed of dentophobia (fear of dentists) can also be planted by the media. Yes, sometimes it all starts by watching a comedy skit. An aggressive, sadistic dentist shoves the patient into a chair and attacks him with the evil tools of the trade, beginning with being jabbed by a giant needle.

The drill sounds more like a jackhammer and it makes the patient’s entire body vibrate to the point of nearly falling out of the chair. The menacing dental pliers are shoved into the mouth to engage in a vigorous twisting and yanking routine. The tooth unwillingly surrenders to the extreme abuse and leaves the patient unable to speak beyond a mumble. After the dental visit, one is left looking like a mummy with a special dentist wrap around the jaw to hold an ice pack in place.
Sometimes, it’s a real life experience that initiates the fear. Poking and prodding during the initial dental examination can result in mild to severe pain depending on the condition of the teeth. Anyone who has ever experienced a nerve being touched during a dental visit is not about to forget what it felt like. There is virtually painless dentistry today but it requires that dentists to stay current with modern techniques and technologies.

Even so, some patients are extremely sensitive to even the slightest amount of discomfort. What can be taken in stride by some is felt as excruciating pain to others. Of course, anxiety over it all actually makes it much worse than it would be otherwise. Unfortunately, the fear factors easily take root and take hold. They are much more difficult to extract than any tooth. Since SCV Dentist is prepared with those techniques and technological advances, there is modern, safe, and interpersonal experience awaiting your visit.

“I feel blessed to have good looking teeth, but having a healthy set is truly a miracle,” says a local Santa Clarita resident. “Taking care of my teeth has always been at the top of my list of health priorities,” says another Santa Clarita resident. Dentistry is a vital part of our daily lives and here are some of the facts you should know as to why dental health and hygiene should not be neglected.

Healthy Mouth = Healthy Heart

Germs nesting in the mouth can cause gum inflammation also known as gingivitis. If gingivitis is left unchecked it can cause serious gum infections, later leading to atherosclerosis (thickening of the arteries) which is a major concern associated with heart disease. The bacteria in the mouth penetrate the gum line and enter the bloodstream. According to a research study conducted by the American Heart Association Journal Circulation, the more severe cases of atherosclerosis shared a common denominator; higher levels of gum disease bacteria. Of course this is not the only contributing factor to artery blockage, but it is a small dental issue that one can maintain in order to avoid a more serious injury such as a stroke.

Confidence

It is our teeth that attract peoples’ attention when we engage in our first conversation. Have you ever been faced with a situation where someone you were speaking to smiled and their teeth were discolored or stained? A healthy set of pearly white teeth can boost physical appearance, self-esteem and confidence.

Prevention is always better than cure. A lot of people want to get the dentist visit out of the way as quickly as possible. If you are looking to make it quick and painless, then be sure to maintain your teeth very well throughout the year. Remember to consult your dentist regularly as they can make accurate recommendations on certain products that you are using or keep you updated on any chances within the field of dentistry. Dentist would recommend having your teeth checked at least two times a year. Even the best toothbrush and flosses can’t clean your mouth the way they can.

Teeth and our mouth is the beginning stage of the digestion process, this means that teeth are the most prone to food related damage such as chipping, breaking, and staining. Because eating is a daily routine necessary for basic survival, it would be a crazy thought to refrain from eating just to prevent tooth decay. This is where the importance of proper teeth cleaning and regular teeth maintenance comes in to play. Brushing after each meal is one important aspect of teeth cleaning. There are lots of television commercials promoting various toothpaste brands that can fight against elements such plaque, cavities, and tartar, to name a few. If you have any questions about the type of toothpaste that you chose you should run it by your dentist. Dentists will re-assure that brushing alone is not enough to keep the teeth clean and healthy. Flossing and mouthwash can help remove food particles stuck in between teeth, and regular dentist visits are recommended twice a year.

Some foods contain certain ingredients that are not good for the teeth. Coffee and tea can stain the teeth, chocolates and candies can contribute to toothache, and clear soda can scratch the tooth enamel. You may want to regulate the intake of these types of food, or if possible, avoid them completely. A good set of teeth brings out a good smile, and boost confidence. Maintaining a healthy set of teeth by cleaning is not just essential to proper hygiene, but is also a key to stay in shape. This is the reason why many individuals are willing to do all that it takes to have their teeth looking white, straight, and strong.

People are growing increasingly aware of how important dentistry is to their health and their overall projection of self-confidence. Through decades people have had a fear of the barber, who was traditionally also the dentist. Since the separation of professionals and with the advent of new technology over the last couple decades no one should have a fear of going to either. Dentistry today is relatively painless and for the procedures that can seem more painful than others, there are several pain reduction methods; some dentists have even introduced hypnosis as a drug free alternative. Research has found links to several diseases that are caused by poor conditioning of gums and teeth. Gum disease has been linked to heart conditions. These types of medical conditions can be avoided by simply maintaining ones dental hygiene on a regular basis. Good hygiene starts at the teeth, gums, and mouth as this is the beginning stage of the digestion process. Regular dental visits for maintenance should be scheduled every four to six months. With a maintenance regiment in place, if an issue should arise a dentist will be able to find and assess the problem sooner, which could avoid a bigger problem from happening. Procrastination can lead to some serious tooth decay and eventually complete tooth loss. Chewing becomes harder as the alignment of teeth is constantly changing. Food not chewed properly can lead to overworking of your stomach and can even affect weight gain.

Taking care of your teeth properly is important for overall health, both mental and physical. The self-esteem factor should not be overlooked. If your teeth look good you will be more outgoing, smile more and be overall happier. Have you ever known someone who is self-conscious about their smile?

Plaque and tarter in those hard to reach areas can be tended to with floss or a water flush system. Did we mention that scheduling regular checkups can save you thousands of dollars in repair costs? When addressing dentistry, it is best to take a preventative approach.
